Safe Sex No Regrets is a statewide media campagin implemented by the Western Australian AIDS Council with support from the Department of Health WA and FPWA Sexual Health Services.
The campaign is designed to reduce the risk of HIV and STI transmission through promoting the use of condoms. This campaign is based on a successful NSW version that showed excellent reach and high levels of credibility with the target audience.
Specific primary objectives of the campaign are to:
- To increase awareness of safe sexual practices.
- To increase the use of condoms to prevent HIV and STIs.
Specific secondary objectives of the campaign are to:
- To increase knowledge of HIV and STI prevention, early testing, detection and treatment.
The 12-week campaign will target:
Project evaluation is to be conducted pre and post campaign by Hello Customer Contact Services on behalf of Curtin University. The evaluation will comprise of telephone surveys conducted in November and February and intercept surveys conducted throughout the campaign. The project survey has received ethics approval from Curtin University. The survey will ask a number of questions related to the recall of campaign materials as well as safe sex practises and attitudes towards safer sex.
